Republic of Gamers Products Go Big
ROG announced a few new laptops at Comutex, one of which is liquid cooled. The GX 800 is an iteration to the GX 700, making it the most powerful gaming laptop on the market, and even more-so when docked to the liquid cooler. The GX 800 will feature a K-series CPU, two Nvidia graphics cards SLI'd, and a full-blown RGB mechanical keyboard. ASUS is staying tight lipped as of right now but hoping to see updates in the near future.
Shown off was the already announced G701 and G752 with 17" screens, But the new GL502 stole the show. This laptop is a thinner and lighter little brother of the 700 series. It features a 15.6" display powered by a GTX 980M GPU capable of G-Sync. The processor is an i7working with up to 32GB DDR4 RAM and an optional SSD. USB-C will be included with a red-and-black themed chiclet style keyboard.
What could make these laptops better? Well the XG Station 2 will do it by housing an external graphics card that you can connect to your laptop. It's compatible with any of the latest graphic cards and can be plugged and unplugged without restarting the laptop. Thunderbolt 3 connectors are used to connect the laptop to the station. The station includes it's own power supply, 4 USB 3.0 ports and LAN socket to improve your gaming.
Now to use all that power you need a monitor that can actually use it. VR is a good option but for those that want the conventional screen the Swift PG248Q gaming Monitor has you covered. This monitor is a 1080p LED-Backlit 24" display supporting Nvidia's G-Sync. The monitor can be overclocked to 180ms with a 1ms grey-to-grey response time. It features a slim bezel for surround displays and software for gaming like a timer and crosshair.
But of course there's no point in having a fast response time if your keyboard can't handle it. The new Claymore RGB claymore features Cherry MX switches and N-Key rollover. The LED's can be synched with all other ROG Aura components and can be used to monitor fan speed and CPU temperature. With that keyboard you will need a mouse to go with it. The new Spatha is an 8200DPI laser mouse perfect for MMO's. It includes 12 programmable buttons with 6 thumb buttons. Three zones of RGB make the mouse shine and can be either wireless or wired. While wired the mouse is capable of a polling rate of 2000Hz.
Don't want a laptop but want a pre-built machine? ASUS showed off two new high-end desktops for you. The G31 Edition 10 was shown to celebrate Republic of Gamers 10th anniversary. This one is the smaller of the two desktops but doesn't lack in power at all. With 2 GTX 1080 in SLI 4K UHD gaming is always on demand. It also features a Hi-Fi audio port to bring you the best sound possible. For the more serious the GT51CA is the machine to get. Powered by an i7-6700k that can be overclocked to 4.6 GHz with just a touch of a button and the RAM of your choice you'll never be bottle-necked in rendering again. 2 GTX1080 in SLI will keep your games running smooth in 4K UHD for many hours. Four zones of RGB color make this computer your own when paired with the ROG band that opens a secret hard drive. This machine also includes an audiophile-grad ESS DAC with an amp to keep your games immersive.
And why have good audio jacks if you don't have the headphones to use it. The Centurion 7.1-channel headset is hard to beat. It's true 7.1 surround sound being delivered by 10 individual neodymium-magnet drivers and a Hi-Fi-grade ESS headphone amplifier. It comes with two interchangeable ear cups and a USB audio station that looks amazing. It does include a mic that is noise-cancelling that can be controlled with the audio station. Unfortunately no RGB for this guy.
For those DIY of you out there two new motherboards were announced and they look good. The Strix X99 Gaming board is your standard board with premium components and Aura RGB lighting. Its an all black board with silver accents and orange branding with RGB. The Rampage V Edition 10 blew away the other motherboards this year. This board is only for the extreme; which is why it has a LGA 2011 v3 for the Haswell-E X-series processors. Because of the processor the board supports 8 DIMMS for up to 128GB of RAM plus overclocking is fully unlocked. It includes all the ROG regulars; 5-way optimization, Fan Xpert 4, and premium components to squeeze every last bit of performance out. The board features 4 PCI-e 3 x16 slots one x4 slot and a x1 slot. It also features an M.2 slot, NVMe U.2 slot and 10 SATA ports. The board features a built in I/O shield, Aura lighting and many customizable RGB zones on the board itself. The PCIe slots are reinforced to reduce sagging and breaking and also is lit up with RGB LEDs.
